Day 1: An unexpected journey

March 1st....3am

We all arrived at the airport bright and early at 3:30. Everyone was in the most pleasant of moods naturally, loving the brisk early morning air.
Chris had a little trouble staying awake, but Jake was there for him in his time of need.

4:15 We hit our first snag as Erica was caught with weaponry on her person whilst in the security line
(scissors and an x-acto knife). If she weren't such a darn well prepared designer we may have questioned her reasons...

Shortly after Mike spotted John McCain!

but not really

There were some very mentally stimulating puzzles in the airport to get those creative juices going

7:40 am We boarded our flight and were ready to take off for Washington DC. The plane was super tiny, sitting about 60 people and a short hour and a half later we were touched down in Washington.
Lesia even made a friend. Doesn't she look excited?

9:40 am we had boarded the second plane and we were all set to head for London. A couple of fun facts about the flight: It lasted a "small" 7 hours and 20 minutes. The plane was moving at speeds upwards of 600 mph. We were at a cruising altitude of 35,000. The time change from the US to London is 5 hours. At a point during the last hour of the trip the external temperature around the plane was -97 degrees.
The flight was very accommodating, supplying us with blankets, pillows, movies, a map of the flight in progress with the details listed above, as well as drinks and two meals. The meals, however were questionable. The full dinner was "chicken", but thats debatable, however the second meal was a ham(or turkey) and cheese sandwich. You can't really mess that up.

10:30 pm (don't forget the time change)
WE LANDED IN LONDON! and everyones bag landed with us.
Look at the happy group
Around about midnight we got to the hostel where we got the keys to our extremely spacious rooms.... and all went straight to bed of course.

On our way to the Royal College of Art, we noticed a hotel with some interesting extenders that mimicked the height of the building.

Even though you see some Parkour back in the States, we couldn't help but show everyone this guy practicing his moves down at the Southbanks. With all of the interesting architectural elements around these parts, it is a more widely accepted activity here; whereas back at home he might be speaking to some law enforcement....
